The meditative pieces of this CD represent an encounter between Japanese and Chinese musical culture, with an admixture of jazz. Franklin plays shakuhachi, Wheeler plays guqin (Chinese zither) and ruan (Chinese lute), and additionally clarinet and saxophone.
